Mumbai ha deciso di consentire all’allenatore di bowling RCB Omkar Salvi continuare come capo allenatore della squadra per la prossima stagione domestica
The Mumbai Cricket Association has decided to allow Omkar Salvi to continue as the team’s head coach for the upcoming domestic season. Salvi, who is also Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s bowling coach, was appointed to the role in 2023. Under his guidance, Mumbai have been phenomenal over the last couple of years, winning the Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Irani Cup.
Omkar Salvi to continue as Mumbai coach
As per India Today, MCA president Ajinkya Naik hailed Salvi for his leadership and approach. He credited the RCB bowling coach for Mumbai’s performance in the last two seasons. Salvi has worked with Rahane as captain in red-ball format and with Shreyas Iyer in white-ball formats.
“His outstanding leadership and coaching over the past two seasons have played a vital role in the team’s strong performances. His ability to bring out the best in players has been exceptional,” MCA president Ajinkya Naik said.
Mumbai’s first-class captain Ajinkya Rahane had earlier heaped praise on Salvi, stressing on the importance of low-profile coaches in the domestic setup. Rahane had said that Salvi had been associated with the team earlier in a different role before being named coach. Rahane pointed out that Salvi had worked in close quarters with each and every player and had given everyone the same amount of attention.
“It is really good to have a coach like Omkar (Salvi) with us. It shows that you don’t need high-profile or flashy coaches to be around the team. You can still be under the radar. You can still stay low-profile and get the best out of each and every player,” Rahane told Sportstar.
