Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have taken a significant step toward environmental responsibility by successfully diverting 84.9% of stadium waste from landfills during their seven home matches at Eden Gardens in the TATA IPL 2025 season. This initiative underscores the franchise’s commitment to sustainability and sets a benchmark for waste management in sporting events.
Waste Management Strategy
KKR implemented a multi-pronged waste management approach to achieve this milestone. The franchise installed 200 waste segregation bins across the stadium, encouraging fans to separate their waste responsibly. Additionally, a dedicated Green Team was deployed to assist spectators and maintain a litter-free environment.
To further promote responsible behavior, KKR launched anti-litter messaging and awareness campaigns throughout the stadium. Waste management training was also conducted for key stakeholders, including food stall vendors and catering teams, ensuring proper disposal practices.
