Chris Gayle ha sostenuto Sarfaraz Khan per far parte del team di test indiano e ha implorato la direzione della squadra per dargli una corsa

Former West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle has backed for Sarfaraz Khan’s inclusion the Indian Test side and has claimed that his weight is no roadblock for his selection. The Mumbai batter was first excluded from India’s squad for IND vs ENG series despite being a part of the A team and now has been snubbed from the team, this time perhaps because of his quadriceps injury. Gayle has claimed that given his caliber, Sarfaraz must be a sure shot inclusion in the Test side.

‘That’s sad’: Gayle on Sarfaraz

Speaking to Shubhankar Mishra on his podcast, Gayle opined that there was nothing wrong with Sarfaraz’s weight for him to be excluded from the Test side. He noted that despite scoring a century against England back in 2024, the Mumbai batter was left out of the squad for the IND vs ENG Test series earlier this year. In anticipation for a call-up to the Test squad, Sarfaraz had shed 17 kilos before the England tour, showing his dedication.

He should be in the Test side. He should be in the Test squad at least, you know. Scored a century against England at home, not in the squad. I saw a post a couple of days ago. He lost weight. The weight wasn’t even, nothing was wrong with his weight or anything. He’s just fine. He was still scoring runs,” Gayle said.

Despite consistent performances in domestic cricket, Sarfaraz had to wait for a long period for his Test debut. He made his debut against England in 2024 where he registered three half-centuries. Sarfaraz last featured in a Test for India in the series against New Zealand at home in 2024, where he scored a hundred, despite which he was dropped.

The man scored triple centuries in first-class cricket. So if they’re using that against him, that’s sad, you know. They should never use that against him. That youngster should have been a part of the squad 100%. I mean, India have so much talent, man, but give the man a run,” Gayle added.
