Buchi Babu Trophy: il 25enne ha giocato inning resilienti per il Maharashtra, quando gli altri battitori sono stati licenziati a buon mercato.
Out-of-favour India opener hasn’t had the best of times in his cricketing career, in the last couple of years. He has been out of the national side for a sizeable amount of time, no IPL picked him in the auction in 2025, and now, he had to make a switch from Mumbai to Maharashtra for better opportunities.
Prithvi Shaw’s Ton Saves Maharashtra
But all that struggle could be behind him soon, or at least the process has certainly started. Turning up for Maharashtra, for the very first time in the Buchi Babu Trophy, the talented batter went on to score a brisk 100 against Chhattisgarh on Monday. Apart from the ton, he bailed the team out of trouble, when they were struggling at 86/4.
Prithvi Shaw’s innings included 14 fours and a six, and smashed the opposition bowlers all around the park. The 25-year-old’s quality lied in the fact that, all the other batters struggled to reach even 20. Earlier, Sachin Dhas, Siddhesh Veer, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ankeet Bawne were dismissed cheaply.
Long Way to Go?
Shaw, at the time of his migration to Maharashtra had said, “At this stage of my career, I believe joining the Maharashtra team will help me grow further as a cricketer. “I am deeply grateful to the Mumbai Cricket Association for the opportunities and support I have received over the years.”
In his India career so far, Shaw has played 5 Tests, 6 ODIs, and a T20I. In those he has scored 339, and 189 runs, respectively. His last international game came in 2021, when he played a T20 match against Sri Lanka in July 25.
