Andre Russell ha fatto bussare al suo ultimo T20i memorabile, mantenendo un tasso di sciopero di 240 nel 2 ° T20i Wi vs Aus

West Indies cricket team star Andre Russell signed off from T20Is with a 36-run knock in the WI vs AUS 2nd T20I. The explosive all-rounder played his last international game at the Sabina Park in Jamaica, bringing the curtains down on a glorious career. Batting first in the contest, WI managed to post a 172-run total at the end of 20 overs.

Russell signs off with quickfire knock

Coming out to bat at number seven, Russell managed to score 36 runs off just 15 deliveries. His knock was studded with four sixes and two fours, striking at a mind boggling rate of 240. Russell’s blitzkrieg helped West Indies recover from a middle-order collapse and amass a formidable total of 172 runs in 20 overs. Earlier, before the start of play, Russell got a guard of honour from both teams.

Russell to retire from international cricket

Reflecting on his decision to step away, Russell said that he wanted to leave on a high note and as an inspiration for the youngsters. He will be replaced by Matthew Forde for the last three T20Is. It is pertinent to point out that Russell’s decision to retire comes weeks after Nicholas Pooran announced his shock retirement from international cricket abruptly.

Words cannot explain what it meant. To represent the West Indies has been one of the proudest achievements in my life. When I was a kid, I did not expect to get to this level, but the more you start to play and get to love the sport, you realise what you can achieve. This inspired me to become better because I wanted to leave a mark in the maroon colours and become an inspiration to others,” Russell said, as per ESPN Cricinfo.
