Sarfaraz Khan ha collaborato con Rohit Sharma al centro di eccellenza di BCCI con gli occhi su un ritorno per i test ind -vs wi
Mumbai stalwart Sarfaraz Khan is working towards an India comeback. Khan played in the home series loss to New Zealand, but was ignored for the tours of Australia and England. Now with the IND vs WI series starting next month, Sarfaraz was seen in training alongside former captain Rohit Sharma at the NCA.
Sarfaraz Khan picks Rohit Sharma’s brain ahead of potential test comeback
Runs have continued to flow of Sarfaraz Khan’s bat in the build up to the India vs West Indies series. In the recent Buchi Babu tournament, the 27-year-old scored twin centuries against TNCA XI and Haryana. Khan had a decent start to his India career but his fitness was always in question.
The Mumbai star has reportedly dropped 17 kgs in the off season, and flexed his muscles recently on social media. He caught with Rohit Sharma and the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Rohit retired from Test cricket earlier this year, but continues to play ODI cricket.
Rohit himself is eyeing a return to action for the India vs Australia series. The ODIs follow the Test series and both Sarfaraz and Rohit seemed in their best spirits with international cricket on the horizon.
While Rohit, as ODI captain is certain to feature, the same cannot be said for Sarfaraz. Despite a healthy domestic season and recent performances, India have stacked up their options in Test cricket.
Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar and more recently Karun Nair have all occupied the middle order slot which Sarfaraz is competing for. Add to that the competition from Shreyas Iyer and Rajat Patidar, and chances further diminish. To his advantage, Nair and Sai Sudharsan both failed to make the most of their chances in England, meaning a spot in the team could open up.
Incidentally, Rohit himself made his Test debut in the middle order, smashing back to back centuries against West Indies in 2013. He shifted to the top of the order in 2019 and played there till his retirement.
