Jaiswal snubbed
India has announced their squad for the Asia Cup. The 15-member team includes Shubman Gill as vice-captain, the return of Jasprit Bumrah and Jitesh Sharma, while the majority of the team looks the same as it did in January. Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Riyan Parag were the biggest omissions.
No IND vs PAK questions please
During the press conference, Suryakumar Yadav and Ajit Agarkar were asked about India’s approach against Pakistan in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack. Before either of them could answer, the BCCI shot it down and informed them that only squad-related questions would be addressed.
India’s Women’s World Cup squad
The BCCI has also named India’s squad for the upcoming ODI series against Australia and the Women’s ODI World Cup. Shafali Varma and Titas Sadhu are the biggest omissions. Sayali Satghare has been picked to play against Australia, but not in the World Cup. Read more here.

Shreyas Iyer back in Tests?
Shreyas Iyer hasn’t been included in India’s squad for the Asia Cup. However, there is a chance that his persistent performance on the domestic circuit will be rewarded soon. Shreyas is likely to make his Test comeback. The 30-year-old is in line to be included in India’s squad for the West Indies Test series.
No Samson in India’s Playing XI
Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin believes that Sanju Samson won’t be part of India’s playing XI at the Asia Cup. Ashwin reckons that Shubman Gill’s appointment as vice-captain means that he will open alongside Abhishek Sharma. Since no other position is open, Samson won’t play.
Kohli’s 100-year gift
Former India batter Ambati Rayudu believes that Virat Kohli’s contributions to Indian cricket will see the nation dominate the sport for the next 100 years. Rayudu praises the former India captain for introducing a fitness culture, leading by example, and showing what fitness can do for one’s game.
