While all eyes are on the Asia Cup 2025, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are steadily gearing up for their return. The duo remain active in ODIs, and will feature against Australia in October. With a couple of months still to go, the veterans have amped up their race to match fitness.
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli train hard ahead of ODI return
Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were last seen in action during IPL 2025. Now after an extended break, the duo have begun training. Rohit is still India’s ODI captain and was seen sweating it out in the gym. The 38-year-old has been working with former India coach Abhishek Nayar. Nayar has been credited with reviving the careers of Dinesh Karthik and KL Rahul. Rohit would hope he could regain full fitness with the ODI World Cup still a couple of years away.
Virat himself is no stranger to hard walk. The former India skipper was spotted outside a net session in London. This comes after he teamed with Gujarat Titans coach Naeem Amin a few weeks earlier for a hit in the nets. Kohli also posed with a fan after his net session.
Rohit and Kohli remain active in international cricket only in ODIs. The duo have eyes on the 2027 World Cup in South Africa. India lost the 2023 WC final at home and the pair will hope to cross the final hurdle in a couple of years’ time. Rohit then will be 40, while Kohli himself would be 38. Should they maintain their fitness, which they are working hard towards, they could realise that dream together.
