The Oval Test between India and England, has to go down as one of the best ever. Despite needing 374 to win, England scored 367 of those, and almost crossed the finish line. But then, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna’s nine wickets together, sealed the victory for India. That just goes on to show, that this team has the nerves of steel, and is now ready to take on the world.
Shubman Gill All Praise for Siraj & Prasidh Krishna
After the win, Shubman Gill revealed, that there was pressure of winning on both the teams. He also commended the efforts put in by Siraj and Prasidh. “Definitely both the teams played brilliantly throughout the series. Both the teams came up with their A-game, happy to get on the right side today. When you have bowlers like Siraj and Prasidh, captaincy seems easy. They were making the ball talk. Yes, there was a bit of pressure on us but they were really bowling well. We were confident.
“We wanted them to feel the pressure throughput the 37 runs they scored.” In fact, he went a step further and called Siraj a captain’s dream, for the kind of effort he put in with the ball. “He is a captain’s dream, every ball, every spell he bowled he came all out and gave it everything for the team. Both teams coming into Day 5 not knowing who would win shows how passionate both teams were and how hard everyone has played.”
Wanted to be Best Batter of Series
Asked, what did he learn from the series, Shubman Gill was quite clear. He said, “That we never give up.” As for his own performance, he wanted to be the best batter in the series, and did exactly that. “Feels very rewarding, there were certain things I wanted to work on as a batter and it was a goal to end as the best batter of this series, glad to get that goal.”
