La Karnataka State Cricket Association deve ancora ottenere l’autorizzazione dalla polizia per ospitare i giochi di trofei Maharaja allo stadio M Chinnaswamy
The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) is yet to get clearance for hosting Maharaja Trophy 2025 games at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. The T20 tournament is scheduled to be held between August 11 – 27. However, the Bengaluru police are yet to give a green signal to the KSCA for hosting games in the state’s capital in the aftermath of the Bengaluru stampede following RCB’s IPL 2025 win which led to 11 people being killed and several injured.
Uncertainty over Maharaja Trophy in Bengaluru
As per Times of India, Maharaja Trophy franchises are miffed with the fact that the KSCA is yet to obtain clearance for hosting games at Chinnaswamy. The report states that teams have already made logistical arrangements for the players and a last-minute shift of venue could hamper their plans. The BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Alur and the Wodeyar Grounds in Mysuru are being considered as alternatives. However, the franchises have expressed displeasure over moving games from Bengaluru to other venues.
Earlier in July, the KSCA had announced that the Maharaja Trophy would be played behind closed doors. A little later, the Justice Cunha Committee, appointed to probe the Bengaluru stampede, deemed the Chinnaswamy stadium unfit to host big events or matches.
Meanwhile, the Maharani tournament – a T20 tourney for women – will be played in Alur. The report states that while the KSCA was mulling to host the final at Chinnaswamy, it is highly unlikely that they will get a clearance.
The Commission’s report means the BCCI will now be left in a fix over the possibility of having to shift out all planned matches. The Chinnaswamy stadium is supposed to host the Women’s ODI World Cup opener and the semi-final later in September. Besides, Karnataka has no other international venue apart from Bengaluru.
