Sri Lanka falter in decider, Tanzid-Mahedi shine for Bangladesh
Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka opted to bat in the SL vs BAN 3rd t20 at Colombo on Wednesday. However, that decision did not turn out well with a sorry batting card. Pathum Nissanka played an innings of substance while the Bangladesh bowlers got their lines spot on. Mahedi chipped in with a career best spell to run through the SL batting order.
Hasan got through Kusal Perera, Dinesh Chandimal and Asalanka before dismissing Nissanka as well. He also bowled a maiden, to finish with figures of 4/11 in his four overs. Sri Lanka stuttered along scoring at below a run a ball. It took a 22-run final over to push the hosts to 132, with Dasun Shanaka remaining unbeaten on 35.
In response, Bangladesh lost Parvez Emon in the first over but that was Sri Lanka’s only success. Tanzid Hasan looked comfortable and paced his innings with Litton Das for compant. The duo rotated strike and chipped in with boundaries at regular intervals. They put 74 in 50 balls, all but sealing the chase. Tanzid batted through to seal the chase and the series.
